In the supply chain, delivery is the ultimate stage of the order process. After this, products are invoiced. For the great majority of manufacturers and distributors, this task is entrusted to a carrier or logistician who consequently assumes responsibility for and attests to their delivery. In some sectors, for example supermarket distribution, certain companies demand that their suppliers systematically provide them with proof of delivery before paying their invoices. It goes without saying that poor delivery document management has a direct impact on end-customer invoicing, on invoice payment, and consequently on a company’s cash flow.
